Dr. Richard Schaengold M.D.

This scholarship is established in honor of Richard Schaengold, M.D., by his wife, Marylin and sons, Michael and Howard. Dr. Schaengold was a devoted practitioner of psychiatry for nearly 60 years, who specifically focused on patient care and the well-being of his patients and their families. In this regard, he recognized the very important contributions made by Certified Nursing Assistants.

Dr. Schaengold was born in Hamilton, Ohio and graduated from the University of Cincinnati and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. After completing two residencies and additional post-graduate training, Dr. Schaengold practiced psychiatry in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
