Donald Day and Karen Gruner Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship supports students who:

  1. are majoring in physics, engineering, or mathematics
  2. have completed at least 15 credits at Montgomery College and have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Scholarship recipients may have no more than one repeated course, must have completed satisfactorily or be currently enrolled in the first calculus course for engineers, and must attempt the first course in techniques of reading and writing prior to or during their first year of scholarship support.

The transfer scholarship supports students who were physics, engineering, or mathematics majors at MC and who are transferring to a 4-year accredited institution where they will be pursuing a baccalaureate degree in physics, engineering, or mathematics.

For both the MC scholarships and the transfer scholarships, no preference will be given to any citizenship or visa status.
Special consideration may be given to students who are first-generation college students, from low-income backgrounds, or who have experienced systemic barriers to accessing STEM education, provided such considerations are applied in a race-neutral manner.

The scholarship awards will be based on the demonstrated financial need of each student, but they will cover at least 25% of the cost of the tuition, fees, and books at the institution where the student is enrolled. All scholarship awards are renewable through the baccalaureate degree based on satisfactory grades and progress in major.
